Somnakuno Drom Roma Women's Civic Association

Focus on the Ukrainians III. project

Budget:4.000.000 HUF

Project period:15 January-15 May,2023

In 10 municipalities, the association works in a complex way, with a holistic approach, with about 130 refugees of Roma origin who fled the war in Ukraine, using the method of family mentoring, in the following areas: job creation, application for social assistance, benefits, preparation of documents, settlement of "refugee" status. Access to safe accommodation and local services, such as health, education, children's integration, placement of children in school/preschool and their integration into the Hungarian education system are important goals.

Máriapócs, Kótaj, Geszteréd, Hodász, Ibrány, Csaholc, Nyírpilis, etc. The families involved in the project receive a food package on demand up to once a month.

Two professional roundtable meetings are organised in Nyíregyháza with the county assistance organisations to discuss problems, living situations and legislative changes related to refugees. Their aim is to create and strengthen a professional protection network that can complement each other and help Ukrainian families who have stayed here. They will help refugees to have access to all the services they are entitled to under their basic rights and the law.
