The portal www.odperinky.sk  was founded by the Carpathian Foundation in cooperation with the Ekopolis Foundation within the framework of the Program for the Development of Roma Communities, which both foundations have been implementing for four years. The site has been in existence since September 2020.

The aim of the site is to introduce readers to topics related to early childhood development and care in excluded communities, as well as to other topics that effect early childhood care. Those are mainly the topics of motherhood, parenthood, housing, employment, education, financial literacy, the problems of addiction and discrimination. Odperinky brings not only professional articles created for this portal specifically, but also collects information published elsewhere so that the site covers the topic of early childhood development and care in excluded communities as broadly and comprehensively as possible. The site brings and shares stories and examples of good practices and thus connect theory with real experiences. The name of the portal in Slovak means “from baby blanket” and shall represent that real inclusiveness has to start from early childhood.

The OdPerinky platform is not only a professional but also a communication tool for experts and enthusiasts focused on the topics of early childhood care. The portal is open to comments, questions and contributions from public on related topics and actively involves readers in the creation of the portal. The portal has established cooperation with the Center on Developing Child at Harvard University, through which it can translate and publish some selected videos and articles of the Center in the Slovak language.

The idea is to develop from Odperinky a portal, which brings constantly up-to-date information for experts and is a source for new stimuli and inspirations in the field of early childhood care for the general public. After all, it depends on every child what the society we live in will look like in the future.

Within the “Chance for children from disadvantaged backgrounds“ project interesting contents (videos, articles, etc.) will be developed related to the topic of early childhood development and marginalized Roma communities by relevant Hungarian and Slovak professionals. These content will be translated into Hungarian and Slovak and disseminated across the borders to enhance knowledge and experience exchange of concerned professionals and sharing of best practices.

The “Chance for children from disadvantaged backgrounds“ FMP-E/1901/4.1/015 project is supported by the European Union, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, through the support of the Slovakia-Hungary Interreg V A Program Small Project Fund.
