Washington, DC – The Hungarian American Coalition (Coalition) has donated a mobile emergency medical examination unit to Odessa Memorial Hospital in Ukraine.

This donation was made possible by a $32,000 grant from the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation (HHRF) and other generous donors of the Coalition. The delivery to Odessa will be facilitated by the Carpathian Foundation, another Coalition member organization, which is helping to coordinate the project.

GeorgiaTech Scheller College of Business students Caroline Madison and Vaishnavi Vuyyuru from Atlanta, Georgia have completed their internship programme at our Foundation. They helped to make our work on the war in Ukraine more effective with an impact sheet. They also produced a precious powerpoint presentation on the Ukrainian  Fund. They presented their work in Budapest in mid-July at the „Hegyvidéki Ízlelő” Restaurant, where they employ disabled workers. The restaurant is a social business, which is highly recommended:

At the end of June, Éva Szomor, an early development specialist, visited Bükkszentmárton with the staff of our foundation, where they participated in the implementation of a children's workshop and the expert gave valuable advice for the future to the head of the activity group Theresa Balogné Bencsik. During the session, there was talk, representation, rhythmic movement. The children have also recently made a mini-garden and learned about the kitchen garden.

We continued our visits to our civil society organization partners. At a playsession for young children organised by the Hevesaranyos Laskó Forrás Association, Zsoltné Puporka, head of the association, and Kornélia Barta, head of the activity group, developed the children living in Hevesaranyos in a fun and playful way in the clubhouse.

Another LEGO donation was brought to the local kindergarten to the delight of the children and we discussed future cooperation possibilities with Anna Bartáné Lehóczky, head of the kindergarten.

Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business(Atlanta) students Caroline Madison and Vaishnavi Vuyyuru are our interns this summer. They are helping us to improve the effectiveness of our many relief efforts in the war in Ukraine. Together, we are monitoring and evaluating the impact of our programmes, and working on a resource mobilisation plan and increasing the visibility of our Carpathian Emergency Response Fund for Ukraine program. We are very happy to have Navi and Caroline as part of our team this summer and to work with them.
