Washington, DC – The Hungarian American Coalition (Coalition) has donated a mobile emergency medical examination unit to Odessa Memorial Hospital in Ukraine.
This donation was made possible by a $32,000 grant from the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation (HHRF) and other generous donors of the Coalition. The delivery to Odessa will be facilitated by the Carpathian Foundation, another Coalition member organization, which is helping to coordinate the project.
The multifunctional medical unit is a 20-foot foldable container (CN20) constructed by Continest Technologies Plc, a Hungarian company that develops container solutions for short-term use: for example, temporary accommodation, office/meeting rooms, first aid station, screening rooms.
The medical unit ordered by the Coalition will be used as an emergency medical examination ward, to expand capacity at Odessa hospital, which requested such a facility. The unit includes air conditioners, mobile electric radiators, an examination bed, tables, waiting chairs, and medical privacy screens. The unit will be ready to ship by mid-September.

The Odessa Rehabilitation Hospital, founded in 1914, is located on the Black Sea coast. The hospital has a well with mineral water and a sea water supply and treatment system, and uses therapeutic mud from a nearby estuary. Since Russia’s 2022 attack on Ukraine, the hospital focuses on treating injured soldiers, refugees, and thousands of civilian victims of the war. The hospital also conducts physical, psychological and social rehabilitation of disabled persons and war veterans, and helps to reintegrate them into society.
