The mission of the JobNet project is to search and popularize initiatives which successfully support the combat against youth unemployment and which would apply in other member states of the European Union. From November, 2012 to February, 2014 in 6 European countries (Czech Republic, Croatia, Latvia, Hungary, Germany and Slovakia) an international, comparative research has been going on with the aim to find the reasons of youth unemployment. Three volunteers take part in it from each country, follow the “Nothing about us, without us” principle.
The results of the research were presented at an international conference on 13-14 November, 2013 by the volunteers in Eger. The interested participants could listen to many useful presentations on the topic. The event gave the opportunity for experts from 17 European countries to exchange their experiences and share best practices in the following topics: how young people become entrepreneurs, skills development, voluntary opportunities, mentoring, etc.
On the second day of the conference participants under the age of 30 could tell their opinions about young people’s opportunities in the labour market within the frame of a workshop. After this they made a Recommendation about how to reduce youth unemployment. The programme ended with a summary of this workshop.
The project is supported by the Education, Audio-visual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and the International Visegrad Fund.
