Strengthening and activating small communities of Northeast Hungary

The project is implemented within the frames of ‘Strengthening social participation through community development’ entitled EFOP-1.3.5-16 coded European Union funded program established to strengthen community engagement, volunteering and to promote philanthropy on local level.

We held a successful workshop about voluntarism in Balassagyarmat

On the 17th August, 2017 we had a successful workshop on voluntarism organized in Balassagyarmat within the framework of the project "Strengthening and Activating Small Communities of Northeast Hungary" (EFOP-1.3.5-16-2016-00915). The primary purpose of the program was to prepare the representatives of small communities and NGOs in Nógrád county participating in the project on how to receive, recruit and manage volunteers. The event covered the legally regulated framework of school community service, its local practice, and the importance of mentoring and rewarding volunteers.

Roma Holocaust Commemoration in Eger

On 2 August, 2017 we commemorated together with the Support the Poor Foundation of Eger and Green Conncections Association on the Generation square of Eger in memory of the victims of the Roma Holocaust. The event begun to fall into oblivion, however we believe we should not let such a genocide happen again thus we need to remember.

Our 2016/17 scholarship program has been closed

We are delighted that the Carpathian Equal Opportunity Scholarship Program has been announced every year since 2007 and we have supported 35 students since then. Our program has ended for 2016/17, but the application is open for the next academic year.

Briefly, we would like to summarize in a few words the previous scholar’s, Ádám Virág successes and experiences.

We've launched a new project for communities in Northeast-Hungary

Successfully launched new program of the Foundation

The kick-off meetings of our lately launched project entitled "Strengthening and activating small communities of Northeast Hungary" (EFOP-1.3.5-16-2016-00915) were successfully implemented on 22 and 23 June, 2017 in Heves and Nógrád Counties.  Members, associates and volunteers of 16 non-governmental organizations and institutions from Borsod, Nógrád and Heves Counties participated in the meeting where they could get to know each other, and discuss the common work planned for a year in the project

Scholarship Program is a announced for the 2017/2018 academic year

Thanks to Frederick C. Robey 's generous support and the tax 1% offers, the Carpathian Foundation-Hungary provides scholarships to disadvantaged students in the 2017/2018 academic year as well.

In the framework of the Scholarship Program we would like to support 1-3 disadvantaged young students who live in the Hungarian territory of the Carpathian region (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Hajdú-Bihar, Heves, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg megyék), and who are enrolled in the 2017/2018 academic year in any higher educational institutions of the region.

NGOs: We’re here to stay and to continue our work

On Tuesday, 13 June, after two postponed votes, the Hungarian Parliament adopted the Law on the Transparency of Foreign Funded Organisations. The community of civil society organisations united in the Civilizáció campaign continue to believe that the law is unnecessary, stigmatising and harmful.

“Boost Philanthropy in Europe” - conference

The The King Baudouin Foundation, together with more international organization and communities – including Transnational Giving Europe Network – organized the closing event of the Spring of Philanthropy “Boost Philanthropy in Europe” on 12 May, 2017, in Brussel. (More information about the events can be found here).

The aim of the conference was to highlight the complementary role of philanthropy to public action and showed that philanthropy works in Europe.
