Help Yourself

The project of the National Association of Roma Women of the XXI.st Century, Help Yourself..., as its name suggests, aims to help Ukrainian families of Roma origin settled down in the county of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg to integrate into the local society through mentoring. The aim of the project is to enable families to live independently, have their own income, secure their livelihoods, and send their children to kindergarten and school.

To achieve this, the association carries out the following activities:

Open day at the kindergarten in Szajla

The Open Day at the kindergarten in Szajla, successfully  organized in cooperation with the Tarnagyöngye Association as part of the Early Years Matter interprofessional cooperation project. The kindergarten children could participate in an interactive fairy tale performance of the Babszem Jankó Children's Theatre, while parents could get into the world of fairy tales and talk about the importance of fairy tales with Vanda Tátrai, a tale therapist, in an interactive programme.

Interprofessional partnership for the youngest children

Within the framework of our Early Years Matter programme, we provide special financial and professional support and assistance to our partners in several municipalities to strengthen their cooperation with local and regional early childhood (public) services, institutions and professionals. These professionals are in daily contact with families with young children living in poverty, so good communication and cooperation between families and between them is essential to ensure the proper development of children.
